We are the Wellesley Amateur Radio Society, a club of amateur (“ham”) radio operators and enthusiasts centered in the Wellesley, Massachusetts area who have a wide variety of interests within our hobby: providing emergency communications services for the public when the usual methods are unavailable; “talking” with other hams, both local and around the country and world, using many different methods, from voice to Morse code to digital modes, perhaps using our radios together with a computer; and buildng electronic things. We even talk to other hams via our own amateur radio satellites in low Earth orbit, and by bouncing signals off the Moon! Our members enjoy building radio kits and electronic gadgets and experimenting with various ways to communicate. Our meetings usually include a presentation on a topic, sometimes technical and sometimes not, of interest to hams.
Meetings
The club year runs from September through August. We generally meet on the third Tuesday of the month (except for our summer hiatus in July and August) at 7:30 pm in the Kingsbury Room of the Wellesley Police Station, 485 Washington St. (Rte 16), in Wellesley. Please park on the street. We also stream our meetings on Zoom. Guests are always welcome!
